Ederson dropped by Pep Guardiola after originally in starting XI vs Brighton

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson was initially named in their starting XI against Brighton, but later he was dropped for Stefan Ortega.

The Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson was initially named in their starting XI for the game against Brighton, and his name was in teamsheets initially passed to journalists. However, he was dropped at the last minute and Stefan Ortega started for Man City.

Ahead of kick-off, Pep Guardiola was asked why Ederson had been dropped for this match.

He said: “He (Ederson) had the Brazil trip. He could play but we decided to give him a little rest. That’s all.”

Ederson had started all eight Premier League games this season. This is Ortega’s first Premier League start of the season.

After two consecutive defeats in the Premier League against Wolves and Arsenal, Manchester City take on Brighton on Saturday. Guardiola’s side has 18 points after eight games in the league.
