After Erik ten Hag made him a regular player, Wout Weghorst believes that he is performing well for Manchester United.
Since he joined on loan from Burnley in January, the Netherlands international has been chosen to start in all 18 of Manchester United’s games, with only Bruno Fernandes being selected as frequently.
Even though he has only scored two goals and provided three assists, there are doubts about whether the 30-year-old is the best choice for Manchester United’s attack.
Weghorst believes ten Hag trusts him
Despite this, Weghorst is satisfied with his contributions as he has helped the team progress in the FA Cup and Europa League, as well as playing a role in their success in the EFL Cup.
Asked about the number of his games, Weghorst said: “That’s a lot of matches and it shows the trust in me. It also shows I am doing a good job for the team.
“That was the thing I wanted when I came here – to contribute and try and help the club to be successful, to win trophies.
“We have one now. We have two more to go with the Europa League and FA Cup, and we want to get as high as possible in the table and definitely reach the Champions League.
“So it just shows me that I am being part of it. And being part of us being successful and that appreciation, that’s a good thing.”
