Real Madrid 0-0 Rayo Vallecano: Frustrated Los Blancos held to goalless draw

Real Madrid missed the chance to go top of La Liga after a goalless draw against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.

Real Madrid failed to break stubborn Rayo Vallecano and was held to a 0-0 draw at home on Sunday night.

Ancelotti’s side now is two points behind leaders Girona after 12 matches. Rayo Vallecano meanwhile sits in ninth place and extends their unbeaten run to nine games.

Valverde could score an early goal after a mistake from a Rayo player, but he put his shot straight at the keeper.

Jude Bellingham hurt his shoulder in an awkward landing in the 9th minute. Real were ready to replace the Englishman, but after a few minutes, he came back on the pitch.

Vinicius Jr went down in the box and held his face after an elbow. The referee did not give Real Madrid a penalty in the 21st minute.

Joselu could score from Luka Modric’s corner, but his header went wide from six yards out.

Bellingham came close to scoring another goal before half-time when the ball reached him from a corner, but his strike went over the bar.

Vinicius Jr scored for Real Madrid in the 67th minute. However, it was ruled out as Joselu was offside in the build-up.

Rodrygo could score in the 72nd minute after coming onto the pitch when Dani Carvajal picked him out in the box, but his shot rolled past the keeper and went just wide of the far post.
