Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior will be ruled out for two months after suffering a hamstring injury while on international duty with Brazil.
Vinicius Jr has withdrawn from the Brazil squad after suffering an injury against Colombia on Thursday night. He will miss the crucial match against Argentina on Tuesday.
Real Madrid also confirmed on Saturday that Vinicius Jr has suffered a serious thigh injury. Reports suggest that Vinicius could be out of action for around 10 weeks.
A statement from Real Madrid read: “Following tests carried out today on our player Vinicius Jr. by the Real Madrid Medical Services. he has been diagnosed with a tear in his left femoral bicep which is affecting the tendon in his hamstring. His recovery will be monitored.”
Following his withdrawal, Vini Jr wrote on social media: “We will return stronger.”
Vinicius Jr could miss as many as 12 games for Real Madrid. It is expected he will be back at the end of January. The 23-year-old has scored six goals in 13 appearances across all competitions this season.
Real Madrid confirmed on Friday that Eduardo Camavinga also will be out of action for two months after suffering a knee ligament rupture. Aurelien Tchouameni, Eder Militao, and Thibaut Courtois are also on the sidelines.
