The Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho says he is not in talks with AS Roma over signing a new contract.
Mourinho is under contract with Roma until the summer, but in an interview with TG1 said he has not talked with the club owners about signing a new contract.
“I spoke to the Friedkins, but not about a contract renewal,” he said.
“The last time I spoke to Dan was 10 minutes on the phone after the game with Lazio. I talked to Ryan last week.”
When asked whether he will remain at Roma, Mourinho replied: “I don’t know.”
Mourinho guided Roma to the Conference League in 2022, and then they reached the Europa League Final last season. The Portuguese coach said he wants to reach a third consecutive European Final with Roma.
“In the history of Roma, it is the first time ever that the club reached two consecutive European Finals. Imagine how difficult that was. If you look at those who made it three in a row, you see some legendary sides. So I say: let’s give it a go!”
Mourinho also was asked about reports that Roma wants to bring Francesco Totti back to the club in a directorial role.
“Totti is the Number 1 in the history of Roma,” replied Mourinho.
“I understand the question, but I must reply in a defensive manner. Seeing as I am famous for being defensive, even if my teams score many goals, I will do it like this: it is something between Francesco and the club.”
