Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag says he expects a ‘mad’ Everton when they face each other on Sunday.
Man United will play against Everton in the Premier League at the Goodison Park. This is Everton’s first home match since an independent commission imposed a 10-point penalty on the club for a breach of Premier League profitability and sustainability rules.
“It’s always about us, I can see the opposition and I can see they are mad, but then finally it’s about us,” he said at a press conference on Friday afternoon.
“I can’t really speak about it as I don’t know the details. I don’t have an opinion about that.
“If they are mad and that’s their fuel, we have to match those standards. When we match the standards we have a very good chance to win the game.”
Ten Hag believes his team has turned a corner in recent weeks and their confidence is growing.
“Definitely we have seen a turning point. We’ve seen how we deal with certain situations and we’ve built a foundation.
“We now have a massive month and we head into it with confidence as in the Premier League anyone can beat anyone. There are no easy games.
“Every team will drop points but the last five games, we’ve won four and that has given us confidence going forward.”
Ten Hag confirms Shaw will be in squad for Everton match
Ten Hag revealed that Luke Shaw will be in the squad after returning to training following a three months spell on the sidelines. He also provided an update on the latest situation of Onana and Hojlund.
“Andre [Onana] is OK. He’s been in training today and I think he is good. With Rasmus [Hojlund] I feel it is a close finish.
“He’s training and he’s outside making good steps. We have to wait until tomorrow before making a final decision.
“Luke Shaw will be available on Sunday and will be in the squad.”
