AC Milan 1-0 Fiorentina: Hernandez penalty gets Rossoneri back to winning ways

AC Milan returned to winning ways in Serie A thanks to a hard-fought win over Fiorentina on Saturday.

AC Milan secured a 1-0 home win against Fiorentina thanks to Theo Hernandez’s first-half penalty. This is Milan’s first league after four consecutive matches without a win.

Stefano Pioli’s side now is in third place in the table with 26 points after 13 matches. They are five points behind leaders Inter who will face Juventus on Sunday.

Just before half-time, Milan won a penalty after Theo Hernandez was fouled by Parisi when he was running through on goal. Hernandez himself scored from the penalty spot to put Milan ahead.

Fiorentina came close to equalizing in the 62nd minute when Gonzalez’s cross deflected off Tomori and went past Maignan who watched helplessly as it clipped the outside of the far post.

Milan had a great chance to score the second goal in the 76th minute. However, Jokic’s low shot was saved by the keeper.

Mandragora could score for Fiorentina in the last seconds of the match when the ball reached him in front of the goal from a corner. However, Maignan reacted quickly and the ball hit his head before being cleared.
