Newcastle to target Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips in January

Newcastle has chosen Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips as their top target in the January transfer window.

According to The Telegraph, Kalvin Phillips is Newcastle’s top target in the January transfer window. Telegraph claims that Newcastle wants to sign Phillips on a loan deal, but has not yet made direct contact with City.

Out-of-favor Manchester City midfielder also has been linked with Juventus in recent weeks. Reports in Italy suggest that Juventus representatives will travel to Manchester to continue the negotiations with City.

The 28-year-old English midfielder had decided to leave Man City to get regular game time ahead of the Euro 2024. Phillips has played just 89 minutes of Premier League football this season.

Phillips joined Manchester City from Leeds for £42 million in the summer of 2022. He has failed to meet expectations and only has played in 31 matches. Earlier in December, Pep Guardiola admitted that he could not see a place for Phillips in his team and apologised to him for his lack of involvement.
