Barcelona manager Xavi says they will be patient with new signing teenager Vitor Roque.
The 18-year-old Brazil forward Vitor Roque has joined Barcelona squad in January. The Spanish club signed him from Athletico Paranaense for 40million euro last summer. Barcelona confirmed on Tuesday that Vitor Roque will wear the No. 19 shirt at the club for the rest of the season.
Ahead of Friday’s match with Las Palmas, Xavi said Barcelona know Roque needs time and the club will not expect too much too soon from him.
“The registration process is the only thing missing. He will be in the squad list. We hope to have him available (for Thursday). I imagine it’s a question of hours,” Xavi said.
“We will take things slowly with him – he is only 18 years old and we can’t shoulder too much responsibility on him.
“He is doing well, is eager and has adapted very quickly to the group and to training. but we will be cautious.”
Barcelona will face Las Palmas who their manager is former Barcelona B coach Garcia Pimient. He was sacked from his role in June 2021.
Xavi’s side are in fourth place table with 38 points after 18 matches, seven points behind leaders Real Madrid.
