Bayern boss Tuchel admits he ‘felt more appreciated’ in England than in Germany

Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel says he felt more appreciation when working in England, compared to his time in Germany.

The former Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain coach won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021 but was sacked in 2022 after 19 months in charge. Tuchel replaced Julian Nagelsmann in Bayern Munich last March and won the Bundesliga title last season.

In an interview with ESPN, Tuchel admits he ‘felt more appreciated’ at Chelsea compared to his time in his home country.

“Yep. Pretty simple question. I feel we are very critical of each other in Germany, especially with players and coaches. It is very hard to escape. There is a picture and this picture is basically the picture for years and years. I felt more appreciation in England, yes.”

Bayern will face Lazio in the Champions League round of 16 round in February. Tuchel’s side are in four points behind leaders Leverkusen in the Bundesliga table, albeit they have a game in hand.

Bayern’s next Bundesliga match is against Werder Bremen on Sunday.
