Jose Mourinho sends goodbye message to Roma fans following sacking

Former AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho has sent an emotional message to Giallorossi fans after the Italian side sacked him.

Jose Mourinho was sacked by AS Roma owners on Tuesday after two and half years in charge of the Serie A side.

The Portuguese manager guided the club to the UEFA Europa Conference League title in 2022, following it up with a run to the UEFA Europa League final a year later. He guided the club to sixth-place finishes in the past two seasons.

Mourinho wrote on Instagram on Tuesday night: “Sudore, sangue, lacrime, allegria, tristezza, amoR, fratelli, storia, cuore, eternit√†.” (Sweat, blood, tears, joy, sadness, love, brothers, history, heart, eternity).

The Giallorossi are without a win in their last three matches in all competitions and suffered back-to-back defeats before Mourinho’s dismissal.

Roma is ninth in Serie A following Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to AC Milan and five points off the Champions League qualification spots.

AS Roma later confirmed that former player Daniele De Rossi will replace Mourinho. De Rossi spent 18 years at Roma during his playing career.

He will take charge of his first match when Roma host Verona on Saturday evening at the Stadio Olimpico.
