Manchester United has confirmed Marcus Rashford will miss the FA Cup clash against Newport County after being spotted in Belfast nightclub.
Marcus Rashford has been left out of the Manchester United squad for the FA Cup match against Newport County on Sunday.
The statement from Manchester United released to the media on Sunday read: “Marcus Rashford not well enough to be in the squad for Newport following illness. he has stayed at Carrington to train as he recovers.”
Eric Ten Hag said on Friday that Rashford has missed training due to illness. However, Rashford caused controversy after being spotted in a Belfast nightclub hours before reporting ill to Manchester United training.
The 26-year-old is understood to have had back-to-back nights out Thompsons Garage nightclub. He was seen leaving the nightclub on Thursday evening, before flying back by private jet the following morning.
Earlier in the season, Ten Hag criticised Rashford after going out clubbing following a defeat against Manchester City. The England international was dropped from the starting XI against Wolves in December 2022 after being late for a meeting.
Man United will face Wolves away from home in the Premier League on Thursday.
