LaLiga will use a lip-reading service to investigate an offensive comment Jude Bellingham is alleged to have made towards Mason Greenwood.
La Liga confirmed on Friday that it will look into a complaint filed by Getafe that Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham allegedly called Getafe forward Mason Greenwood a “rapist” during a game. The alleged incident occurred during Real Madrid‘s 2-0 win at Getafe on Thursday.
LaLiga has said to The Associated Press that they will hire a lip-reader to determine what happened. It is not clear what possible action they could take against Bellingham in case it is established he did insult Greenwood.
Bellingham joined Real Madrid from Dortmund for €103 million last summer and already has scored 18 goals in all competitions.
Mason Greenwood joined Getafe from Manchester United on loan until the end of the season last summer. The 22-year-old Greenwood was suspended by Man United in January 2022 when he was arrested for a possible attempted rape.
The Crown Prosecution Service decided to drop all criminal charges against him in February 2023. However, Manchester United decided to not bring him back to avoid being a “distraction” despite being cleared of allegations of assault and attempted rape.
