Arsenal star Bukayo Saka says the Gunners “smelled blood” in their thumping 6-0 win at West Ham on Sunday.
Arsenal moved back within two points of the Premier League summit with a record-breaking 6-0 win over West Ham. Gabriel, Saliba, Trossard, and Rice were all on the scoresheet and Saka also scored twice.
After the match, Saka said Arsenal ‘smelled blood’ after they scored four goals in 15 minutes during the first half.
Saka told Sky Sports: “We were 4-0 up in the first half and we could have scored more. We smelled blood today and went for the kill.”
The English forward scored his 50th and 51st goal for Arsenal at the age of just 22 in his 210th appearance for the North London outfit.
Saka added: “I am really happy to achieve that. I missed some chances that I could have scored but it is a great achievement and I am proud of that.”
This was Arsenal’s joint-biggest Premier League away victory and West Ham’s joint-biggest home Premier League defeat.
Arsenal captain Martin Oddegaard also said: “It was a brilliant performance – we controlled everything and were really sharp in front of goal. That’s something we’ve been missing in recent weeks. I’m proud of the team for backing up a big win with another great performance. We’re focussing on ourselves and we don’t care too much about the other teams.”
Arsenal will next face Burnley on February 17.
