Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez insists he does not want to leave the blues, amid reports linking him with a move to Barcelona.
The 23-year-old Fernandez joined Chelsea from Benfica in a £107 million deal in January 2023. The Argentina midfielder is a key player in Mauricio Pochettino’s side and has scored 7 goals in all competitions this season.
After scoring another in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Crystal Palace on Monday, Fernandez denied rumours he could leave Chelsea for Barcelona. Spanish newspaper Sport recently claimed Fernandez is ready to leave Chelsea just 18 months after joining the club, as the midfielder has offered himself to Barcelona.
Speaking to ESPN after the match, Fernandez said: “I don’t want to leave Chelsea. I’m feeling very good here with my teammates and the coaching staff and have done since the day I arrived. The people at the club are treating me very well and I’m grateful for that. I will continue here for as long as they want me to. I don’t know where those [leaving] rumours came from… but I totally deny them.”
Pochettino’s side is in tenth place in the table and will face Manchester City at Etihad Stadium next Saturday.
