Eric Dier makes his Bayern Munich loan permanent

Bayern Munich has announced that Eric Dier will extend his stay at the club for another season after meeting a pre-agreed clause.

Dier, who joined Bayern on loan from Tottenham in January, has featured in seven matches since his arrival.

As Dier’s contract with Spurs is scheduled to end on June 30, the loan deal included an option for Bayern to make his transfer permanent if he reached a certain number of appearances.

Dier’s stay at Bayern will now run until at least June 30, 2025, and he said on “I’m happy in Munich. Now my future is sorted and I can focus on playing well for the club and trying to help the club to win games, win competitions, even though it’s been a difficult period for us.”

Dier’s move to Bayern Munich comes after a limited role at Tottenham this season, where he made just four appearances, three of which were as a substitute, before joining his former teammate Harry Kane in Germany.

This announcement marks the conclusion of Dier’s tenure at Tottenham, where he amassed 365 appearances over a span of nine and a half years.

Max Eberl, FC Bayern board member for sport, said: “He’s a valuable support in our defence with all his character.”
