Kimmich ‘relaxed’ about Bayern Munich future amid transfer rumours

Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich has delivered an update on his future amid reports that the club is considering to sell him.

Sky Germany recently claimed that both Bayern Munich and Kimmich are willing to listen to offers as his contract expires in 2025 with no progress as yet of an extension. The report claims that Kimmich would only be interested in joining Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Arsenal or Manchester City.

Ahead of Germany’s friendly match against France on Saturday, Kimmich said he is “relaxed” about his future.

The 29-year-old midfielder told the German newspaper Die Wel: “For me, the situation is very clear. I still have over a year left on my contract, so I’m relaxed about it. As of now, it is still unclear who will be our new coach from the summer. It is, of course, very interesting and important to know who it will be. My first priority now is to make the season as positive as possible, in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League. Then comes the Euros. These are the things that matter.”

Kimmich also admitted Bayern’s struggles in the Bundesliga this season annoy him. Tuchel’s side is 10 points behind Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen after 26 matches.

He said: “Very, absolutely. When you start the season with Bayern, you want to become champion. But I also have to say that Bayer Leverkusen are having an outstanding season. We’re not doing great. There are still points up for grabs – we haven’t written them off yet. But, of course, we see that Leverkusen are on a run. We go into every game to win. We can’t influence what Leverkusen do.”
