Union Berlin eyes Inter Milan left-back Robin Gosens for debut Champions League campaign, according to Sky Germany.
To acquire Gosens, Union Berlin might have to allocate €15-20m, exceeding their current transfer record of €8.55m set when they purchased Josip Juranovic in January.
Juranovic, along with Jérôme Roussillon, who joined from Wolfsburg in January, is capable of playing as a left-back as well.
Gosens is content and satisfied with his current situation at Milan, feeling comfortable and happy at the club.
The 28-year-old would only consider leaving Inter if the club explicitly informs him that he has permission to depart.
Investing a substantial fee in a player like Gosens indicates that Union Berlin aims to sustain their competitiveness and strive for European qualification, rather than viewing their upcoming Champions League campaign as a mere one-time occurrence.
