Lothar Matthaus makes a bold Harry Kane prediction

Bayern Munich star Harry Kane has received backing from Lothar Matthaus to surpass Robert Lewandowski’s record for the most goals in a Bundesliga season, barring any “major” injury.

Harry Kane recently scored his 16th and 17th goals of the Bundesliga season in a 4-2 victory over Heidenheim, setting a new league record for the most goals after 11 games.

This surpassed Lewandowski’s previous tally of 16 from 11 matches in 2019. While Lewandowski holds the single-season record of 41 goals in the Bundesliga, achieved in the 2020-21 campaign, Bayern legend Lothar Matthaus is confident that Kane will “definitely” surpass this feat unless he faces a prolonged injury setback.

He said on Sky Sports Germany: “I would now make a prediction. If he [Kane] doesn’t have a major injury, then he will definitely break Robert Lewandowski’s record.”

Harry Kane has netted 21 goals in 16 matches for Bayern Munich across all competitions this season. The team currently holds the top position in the Bundesliga, but Bayer Leverkusen could overtake them if they win against Union Berlin on Sunday. Kane, who joined the German club with the aim of winning trophies, is on a prolific scoring streak, enhancing Bayern’s chances of achieving success.

Harry Kane is anticipated to play his next game for Bayern Munich away against Koln on November 24. However, before that, he is expected to participate in England’s Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia during the November international break.
