Manchester United set to lose hugely on Donny van de Beek

Manchester United and Eintracht Frankfurt have agreed for Donny van de Beek to join the German club on an initial loan deal with an option to buy.

Van de Beek, who struggled to make an impact since his £40 million move from Ajax to Manchester United in 2020, will spend the second half of the season on loan at Frankfurt. The deal includes an option to buy, and triggers could potentially make the move permanent.

The agreement less than half of what United paid for the Dutch midfielder. Van de Beek is eager for the move, and Frankfurt hopes to secure permission for him to join the squad before the end of 2023 to integrate into the first-team squad quickly. Frankfurt’s last game before the Bundesliga winter break is on December 20 against Borussia Monchengladbach, and they return to action on January 13 against RB Leipzig.

Eintracht Frankfurt was optimistic about finalizing a deal for Donny van de Beek by engaging in negotiations with Manchester United more swiftly than other interested teams. Despite interest from Real Sociedad, Girona, Ajax, Crystal Palace, and Fulham, it appears Van de Beek is set to join Frankfurt.

His potential departure could be part of a larger shift at Manchester United, with players like Casemiro, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and Anthony Martial facing uncertain futures, either due to being frozen out by manager Erik ten Hag or entering the final months of their contracts.
