DFB bans Union Berlin boss Bjelica after shoving Leroy Sane in the face

Union Berlin boss Nenad Bjelica has been banned by the DFB for there matches for an incident between him and Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane.

Union Berlin manager Nenad Bjelica has received a three-match stadium ban and a 25,000 Euros fine for pushing Bayern Munich midfielder Leroy Sane in the face during the 1-0 Bundesliga defeat at the Allianz Arena.

The punishment was issued by the sports court of the German Football Association, citing “unsportsmanlike conduct” for the incident.

A DFB statement said: “The sports court of the German Football Association (DFB) has banned Nenad Bjelica from the club’s next three Bundesliga games and imposed a fine…amounting to 25,000 euros.”

The statement continued: “Bjelica behaved in an unsportsmanlike manner towards Munich player Leroy Sane and, among other things, grabbed his face, whereupon the referee, Frank Willenborg, showed the red card.

“The coach and his club have agreed to the judgment and the judgment is therefore legally binding.”

Bjelica pushed his hand into Sane’s face during a struggle for the ball near the Union dugout, leading referee Frank Willenborg to eject him from the game.

The three-match stadium ban will affect Union Berlin’s upcoming home match against Darmstadt and their away fixtures against RB Leipzig and Mainz next month.

During the banned periods, Bjelica is not permitted inside the stadium 30 minutes before and after a game and is prohibited from having any direct or indirect contact with his team.
