Wolfsburg confirm Lacroix will be out for the season as he undergoes surgery

VfL Wolfsburg has announced that Maxence Lacroix will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery.

VfL Wolfsburg’s defender Maxence Lacroix has been ruled out for the rest of the 2022/23 Bundesliga season after undergoing shoulder surgery.

The decision came after he was substituted at halftime during Sunday’s game against FSV Mainz 05, and an MRI confirmed the injury on Monday.

With fullback Paulo Otavio already out due to a syndesmosis tear, VfL Wolfsburg trainer Niko Kovac has now lost two regular defenders as the team pushes for European qualification with four games left.

Maxence Lacroix had lost his place in the starting lineup but regained it with a string of good performances, starting in seven of the club’s last nine league matches.

However, his recent injury and subsequent surgery could negatively impact his chances of moving to another club during the upcoming offseason. Despite this setback, Lacroix remains under contract with Wolfsburg until 2025.
