Carlo Ancelotti doesn’t care if Asensio leaves in the summer as long as he performs well

The Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti bluntly gave an answer to reporters quizzing him about Marco Asensio’s future with the Los Blancos

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti simply does not care what happens when it comes to Marco Asensio’s contract extension as long as he continues performing well.

Ancelotti claims Asensio ‘looks good’

Marco Asensio is one of the many Real Madrid stars whose contract is about to expire in the summer. The 27-year-old has been linked to many clubs but he is leaning towards a contract extension at Real Madrid. However, Carlo Ancelotti doesn’t want to focus on the off-field matters right now as they enter a delicate stage of the season.

The Madrid boss said after the Elche win: “He looks good to me, I don’t know if he will stay or not. He may or may not stay, I don’t know, I don’t care much. We have a very important challenge this season. The important thing is that he is contributing, like last year. Let him continue like this, and the club will make the most appropriate decision.”

Madrid managed to thrash Elche 4-0 on Wednesday night. Karim Benzema scored a brace from the spot to mark his 230th goal for Real Madrid. He now moves past Raul Gonzalez (228) and becomes Real Madrid’s second all-time leading goalscorer behind Ronaldo (311).

As far as Asensio is concerned, Real Madrid will try to extend his contracts despite the Premier League links since the winger has become an important part of Ancelotti’s setup recently.
