Gimenez scored for Atletico Madrid, who were set to upset Real Madrid from losing yet another three points. However, Angel Correa’s sending-off for Atletico impacted the game hugely as Real Madrid managed to score late on, rescuing a point.
Simeone criticizes Rudiger for the red card
Angel Correa had an incident where he clashed with Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger off-the-ball. This led to referee Jesus Gil Marzano sending him off which was later confirmed by VAR.
“It could be a yellow, but if we send off a player for that, there would not be a player left on the field.”
Atletico Madrid was left furious with Correa’s sending off and manager Diego Simeone didn’t hold back in the post-match interview.
“The contact is not a hit. Rüdiger is 1.94m”, as per reports from Diario AS.
“A blow so brutal that he apparently had to sit down, but was quickly able to stand up.
“It could be a yellow, but if we send off a player for that, there would not be a player left on the field.”
If Correa’s ban is upheld, he will Atletico Madrid’s next two clashes against Sevilla and Girona.
