Alemany set to stay at Barca
Marca reports that Barclona’s Director of Football has rejected the chance to join Unai Emery at Aston Villa. The record seems to be speculation only but Aston Villa’s offer was reportedly twice what Alemany receives at Barcelona.
Alemany, who has helped Xavi reshape the squad, was set to operate in a similar role in Unai Emery’s project as well. Of course, with Aston Villa being a Premier League side, they have sufficient funds to have such an overhaul of the squad, unlike Barcelona who are broke.
While his football brain is not his main strength, he excels at negotiating and getting the right fee for the players. Barcelona would’ve struggled massively if they were to lose Mateu Alemany.
