Joan Laporta rallied supporters before Barcelona’s match against Villarreal, promising more signings with his customary enthusiasm.
Despite Barca’s summer struggles with Financial Fair Play concerns, Laporta is confident that they can now acquire more players before the market closes.
In recent weeks, the Catalans have extensively tracked Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo and Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix, while rumors have circulated about potential moves away from Barca for Ansu Fati and Marcos Alonso.
Asked about Felix, Laporta said: “You have to ask Deco. We have a salary margin for last-minute operations, more than one, and we are working on it”.
When asked about Fati’s continuance: “Ansu is extraordinary, we are all in love. It was Xavi’s decision to bring him in and he is just another member of the squad, who we want to improve. We are very happy that he is still with us.”
Laporta’s confidence and his talent for rallying fans have carried him through his tenure, even in the face of the club’s ongoing financial difficulties. The club is expected to secure Cancelo on a season-long loan, and there are reports suggesting that Barca is willing to include Fati as part of a deal to bring in Felix.
With less than four days left until the transfer window closes, Laporta and his team are racing against time to bolster the squad.
