Real Madrid unlikely to re-sign Takefusa Kubo afterall

Unlike what has been reported earlier in the week, Real Madrid is unlikely to exercise its 50% sell-on fee for Takefusa Kubo to bring him back to the club.

Despite his impressive performance for Real Sociedad against Real Madrid, the club is not rushing to re-sign Takefusa Kubo. While they won’t rule out a future move for Kubo, there are concerns about how he fits into the squad.

Kubo typically plays on the right or off the striker, which would require him to displace Rodrygo Goes from the starting lineup.

Additionally, the return of Kubo could hinder the progress of academy talents like Nico Paz and Gonzalo Garcia Torres.

With a €60 million release clause, signing Kubo would be a costly operation for Real Madrid, making it more likely that they would welcome a potential transfer fee from his move elsewhere.

Kufo is one of several high-potential players that Real Madrid have let go in recent years. The likes of Odegaard, Hernandez, and Hakimi as well as players like Kubo who could have helped them out in their injury-laden season.
