Manchester United are interested in signing Frenkie de Jong, but the Dutch midfielder has expressed a desire to remain with his current club
De Jong has reiterated his desire to remain at Barcelona for the foreseeable future, despite ongoing rumors linking him with a transfer to Manchester United.
The Dutch midfielder is currently in his fourth season at Camp Nou, and although there were talks of a move to Old Trafford last year, he is now focused on staying with Barca.
De Jong excited about El Clasico
“Barca has always been the club of my dreams and, therefore, I hope to be able to continue there for many more years. We are having a good season in La Liga, we haven’t done so well in Europe, but, in general, we are moving forward.” De Jong outlined his hopes for the future
De Jong also emphasized his desire to win La Liga: “We have a good advantage over Real Madrid but there is still a long way to go. It’s my fourth year and I haven’t won the league. I really want to win it , like the rest of the team.”
De Jong is expected to feature in Barcelona’s starting lineup in the upcoming El Clasico against Real Madrid.
A victory for Barcelona would increase their lead by 12 points, which would virtually secure their first La Liga title in four years.
De Jong’s main priority at the moment is the upcoming Clasico game against Real Madrid at Camp Nou.
If Barcelona wins this match, they would be 12 points ahead of Real Madrid in the league standings.
“Playing in a Clasico is a very difficult feeling to explain,” De Jong added.
“When I was a child, I dreamed of doing it with Barca and now I can do it. It’s a very important game for the fans and also for the players, a game that can decide a league.”
