Joao Felix, who experienced a dramatic summer, joined Barcelona on loan from Atletico Madrid, and the Atleti president has now addressed Felix’s future.
Actively seeking a transfer to the Blaugrana, the Portuguese international waited until the final day to finalize his ideal move, even agreeing to a substantial pay cut to facilitate the deal. Upon arrival, Felix made an immediate impact, commencing his Barca career by scoring and assisting goals, quickly securing a spot in the starting lineup. Recent reports indicate that the Catalan side aims to secure the permanent services of the Portuguese player in the summer of 2024.
Regardless of Atleti’s willingness to sell Felix to their rivals, securing a permanent agreement is expected to be challenging. Reportedly, Barcelona will need to invest a minimum of €105 million (£92m/$113m) to sign both Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo in the upcoming summer.
Cerezo told COPE Partidazo: “Joao Felix will be one of the best players in Europe, I wish him all the best at Barca. He’s on loan there but if Barca wants to sign Joao on a permanent deal, they’ll have the option to make it happen for sure. Otherwise, he will return.”
Joao Felix has received a call-up to the Portugal national team for their European Championship qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Iceland. Following that, he will rejoin his club and take part in their match against Rayo Vallecano on November 25.
