Atletico Madrid has entered the competition with Real Madrid to secure the signing of U17 World Cup sensation Claudio Echeverri.
Claudio Echeverri has emerged as one of the standout players in the current U17 World Cup. The attacking midfielder born in 2006 netted a hat-trick against Brazil earlier this week, sparking increased interest from European clubs throughout 2023.
Real Madrid has expressed interest in Claudio Echeverri, nicknamed “El Diablito” (The Little Devil). The club has dispatched scouts to Indonesia to observe the 17-year-old. However, they are not the sole team from the Spanish capital monitoring his progress.
According to Diario AS, Atletico Madrid has also expressed interest in Echeverri. Other clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Juventus, AC Milan, Benfica, and Inter Milan, are reportedly keen on the player. Claudio Echeverri has a release clause of €30 million in his River Plate contract, with €25 million fixed and an additional €5 million in variables.
Atletico Madrid has been scouting promising young talents in South America in recent years. However, winning the race for Echeverri could prove to be a challenging endeavor for the club.
Argentina and Echeverri are set to face Germany tomorrow in a bid to reach the U17 World Cup finals.
