Pedri has acknowledged that Barcelona will be missing a crucial element following Gavi’s season-ending injury.
Gavi has been sidelined for the rest of the season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament sustained while on international duty with Spain this month.
The 19-year-old will undergo surgery on the injury next week, marking the beginning of a lengthy journey toward full recovery for the midfielder. Gavi’s absence is a setback for both club and country. He will miss Euro 2024, with his expected return scheduled for July 2024.
Pedri has returned to the Barcelona squad after dealing with his own injury concerns, and he is gradually working his way back to full match fitness. However, Pedri is frustrated to be without his friend, Gavi in the Barcelona midfield as he aims to guide Xavi’s team to trophies in 2024.
“I’ve sent him lots of encouragement. Because I know what it’s like to be injured, although mine wasn’t that long. I know what it’s like for a footballer not to be able to play.” According to reports from Diario Sport.
“Without Gavi, we lose many things. Lots of determination is lost. And also lots of love for the badge.
“Personally, I feel good. I’m ready to pick up the pace needed to compete day-to-day and leave my injuries behind.”
Pedri is anticipated to be in the starting lineup for Barcelona in their midweek Champions League home match against Porto. A victory in this match will secure Barcelona a spot in the last 16 of the competition.
