Gabri Veiga rules out Celta Vigo loan return

Reports suggest that Gabri Veiga will not return to Celta Vigo on loan in January after his move in summer to Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia League.

After experiencing a mixed start to his time at Al Ahli in the Saudi Pro League, there have been connections suggesting that Gabri Veiga may make a short-term return to Galicia.

Causing ripples across Europe, the Spain U21 international turned down offers from several Champions League clubs and opted for an offer in Saudi Arabia.

La Liga regulations prohibit Gabri Veiga’s return to Celta Vigo

Some sections of the Spanish media have pointed to his difficulties in the Middle East as an example, illustrating the risks associated with a move to Saudi Arabia.

Celta, under the management of Rafael Benitez, have faced challenges in the 2023/24 season, securing only one La Liga victory in 14 games. Consequently, they have descended into the relegation zone.

Although there are rumors of Veiga expressing interest in a comeback, La Liga regulations prohibit it. Players cannot register with the same club twice in a single season in the Spanish top-flight. However, he remains eligible to join another Spanish side.
