Ronald Araujo praises Barcelona’s confidence in Xavi

Ronald Araujo commends Barcelona’s trust in Xavi following a crucial victory against Atletico Madrid in La Liga.

Barcelona won 1-0 at home against Atletico Madrid in La Liga. Joao Felix scored in the first half, making the crucial difference for Barcelona. He silenced pre-game criticism from his parent club with the goal. The Portuguese player stepped up, making a vital impact for Xavi’s team against their title rivals.

As Atletico mounted a comeback in the final moments, Barcelona had to defend to secure the three points in Catalonia. Inaki Pena, the stand-in goalkeeper, made two crucial late saves, stopping Memphis Depay and Angel Correa. Captain Ronald Araujo sees the result as a sign of progress under Xavi.

“We had many chances to score the second, or even the third goal. But, in the end, they didn’t score and Inaki did very well to keep a clean sheet.” Araujo told Marca after the match.

“We know the team we have, we trust a lot in the work we do with the coach. The results have not come of late, but we did well in the Champions League, and we knew we had perform tonight.” Ronald Araujo praised Xavi’s impact.

Barcelona is already in the Champions League last 16 for 2024. Next up for Xavi is a home league derby against second-place Girona.
