Wayne Rooney, a legend of Manchester United, has predicted that Jude Bellingham, the Real Madrid star, will clinch the Ballon d’Or in the future.
Having made a scintillating start to his career at Real Madrid, Bellingham currently leads the scoring charts in La Liga. The midfielder attributes his success to the former Manchester United man, while Rooney promptly reciprocating the compliment by endorsing the 20-year-old as one of the favorites for the upcoming Ballon d’Or.
Rooney told Sky Sports: “If Bellingham keeps doing what he’s doing then why not? Again we’ve gone through that cycle of Messi and Ronaldo where they’ve dominated that. I’m sure there will be five or six players fighting to try and win the next one. I’m sure if he keeps doing what he’s doing he’ll be right up there.
Thus, Rooney added: “It’s great to see a young English lad take the opportunity to go and play abroad, be brave, he did really well in Germany and is now at one of the biggest club in the world and really shining. I’m really pleased for him and hopefully he can take that into the Euros and help us be successful.”
Recently, Bellingham mirrored Rooney’s path by securing the Golden Boy Award, a distinction the Birmingham City coach had earned in 2004. Furthermore, notable recent recipients of the award include Erling Haaland, Pedri, and Kylian Mbappe—three young talents who are highly probable to join Bellingham on the podium for years to come in the future.
In the upcoming match on Saturday, December 9, the English midfielder will showcase his skills as Real Madrid takes on Real Betis. The team aims to widen the gap between itself and Girona, as well as Barcelona, who will go head-to-head on December 10.
