Bayern Munich may break the bank to buy Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo

Bayern Munich is reportedly considering breaking their transfer record to acquire Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo.

Bayern Munich, who spent £82 million ($100 million) to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham in the summer, is willing to exceed that amount for Barcelona’s ace defender Ronald Araujo, according to reports from Sport.

While conversations with the Uruguayan international are ongoing, Bayern is not overly optimistic about convincing the 24-year-old to join them, as per the club’s sporting director, Christoph Freund.

Harry Kane made a move from Tottenham to Bayern earlier this season, and the 30-year-old has been prolific, scoring 22 goals in 19 games since then.

Bayern Munich is aiming to reestablish itself as a dominant force in European football, and signing Araujo, whose contract at Camp Nou runs until 2026, would be a significant statement of intent for Thomas Tuchel’s team.

The January transfer window is nearing its opening, and both teams could be in the market for potential signings or receiving offers for their players. Negotiations may continue on the player’s side before a figure substantial enough to surpass Kane’s fee.
