Barcelona midfielder Pedri has acknowledged that he doesn’t have a set return date following his most recent injury setback.
Barcelona midfielder Pedri has been unavailable since mid-December when he was diagnosed with a “slight muscle issue” prior to Barcelona’s 3-2 victory over Almeria at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium.
This marks Pedri’s second period on the sidelines in the current season, having previously missed 12 games due to a hamstring strain after gameweek two of the 2023/24 La Liga campaign.
Hamstring injuries have been a recurring issue for the talented young midfielder, causing him to miss a total of 67 games throughout his career.
During a live stream with Ibai Llanos, Pedri shared an update on his recent injury setback, revealing that he does not have a specific return date set for his comeback to action.
“I don’t have a date to return, but it will be soon,” he said. “My first season was very long. I played 73 games. It may have affected me, but I wanted to take on the world.
“Everyone says that when you have the first injury it can recur, but I am working physically and mentally so that it does not repeat, I have changed my diet and I have gone to pilates.
“It hurts me when some people say that my lifestyle is the cause of my injuries. I am a person who does not go out, I do not like parties and staying up late at all, and I love training. I just want to play football.”
Pedri will be absent from the squad that travels to Estadio Gran Canaria for the La Liga match against Las Palmas on Thursday evening.
