Joao Felix is experiencing a substantial increase in salary, amounting to a 900% raise, since joining Barcelona on loan.
Despite the financial challenges faced by Camp Nou, the Portuguese international Joao Felix willingly accepted a personal salary adjustment to facilitate his season-long transfer from Atletico Madrid during the summer of 2023. He willingly made this adjustment to fulfill his aspiration of joining his “dream” club.
Felix was reported to be earning a relatively modest amount of £344,440 in Catalonia, which was considered lower than expected for a player of his evident talent. However, adjustments are being made to bring his current deal more in line with the market value of the 24-year-old winger.
La Liga president Javier Tebas has verified that Barcelona, for Fair Play considerations, have increased the initially agreed remuneration between Joao Felix and the club by a factor of 10. Consequently, Felix is now earning an annual salary of £3,444,400.
While there have been discussions about Barcelona potentially making Felix’s move permanent, his recent performance in the 2023-24 campaign has seen a decline. With six goals and three assists in 21 games this season, his impact has diminished. In the last match against Las Palmas, Felix was relegated to the bench for Barcelona’s dramatic 2-1 victory.
