Ronald Araujo has reaffirmed his dedication to Barcelona despite reported interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester United in recent transfer windows.
Although Bayern has been linked with the Uruguayan defender, it is reported that Ronald Araujo has no plans to leave Barcelona in the current January transfer window to join either Bayern or Manchester Utd. While there is a possibility that Bayern might pursue him at the end of the season, Araujo indicated that he is not currently contemplating a potential move.
The centre-back told reporters: “In every transfer window there are rumors of all kinds. It’s normal. The only thing I can say is that I’m focused on the team and also on this club. I’m comfortable here and I always try to give everything for this shirt. They are always rumors that appear in all markets. There was talk in the summer about Manchester United, but I am focused on Barca. And I will always give one hundred percent.”
Ronald Araujo, aged 24, plays a crucial role in Xavi’s Barcelona team, having participated in 18 matches across all competitions this season. Bayern Munich is reportedly willing to offer up to €80 million (£69m/$88m) to secure his services in the near future. Barcelona’s challenging financial circumstances might compel them to consider selling him.
Araujo is anticipated to remain with Barcelona at least until the end of the season. Barcelona will play against Osasuna in the semi-finals of the Supercopa de España on Thursday. The winner will face either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid.
