Manuel Pellegrini announces the departure of Mexican icon

Manuel Pellegrini has verified that veteran midfielder Andres Guardado will depart the club after an almost seven-year tenure in Seville.

The 37-year-old, with 181 caps for Mexico, is set to join Leon in his homeland. Pellegrini, in a video posted by Julio Saucedo, mentions Guardado having an opportunity for ‘2-3 more years.’

Despite a recent disagreement, both have spoken positively, and Manuel Pellegrini acknowledges Guardado’s contributions, supporting his departure.

Manuel Pellegrini describes Guardado’s departure as a ‘very important loss,’ recognizing his impact on the squad and team unity.

Guardado served as captain for just a year after Joaquin’s retirement but will leave six months later. In his Betis tenure, he made 218 appearances, scoring 5 goals, providing 17 assists, and contributing to Betis’ 2022 Copa del Rey triumph.
