Getafe manager Jose Bordalas defended Mason Greenwood after an incident with Jude Bellingham during their clash against Real Madrid.
The Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood was allegedly subjected to a slur by the Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham, as captured on camera during the La Liga match on Thursday.
Following the game, Greenwood’s club filed an official complaint with La Liga’s representative and enlisted a lip reader. Despite the controversy, the Azulones boss supported the English winger.
Speaking to reporters after the match, Bordalas said, “I know the same thing that you know. It’s not up to me, it’s the club, La Liga and the Federation that have to make an assessment about it. The only thing that I can say is that I ask for respect for Mason Greenwood because he is a great guy. He is a man who respects everyone and has exemplary behaviour.”
According to the Daily Mail, a forensic lip reader strongly believes that Bellingham used the term “rapist” towards Greenwood during their on-field confrontation. If this accusation is correct, the England international may be subject to disciplinary action from La Liga.
Real Madrid, currently leading the title race, will face second-placed Girona in a pivotal La Liga fixture on Saturday.
