Xavi’s men failed to score once again as they could only manage a draw with Getafe in the Spanish capital on Sunday
Barcelona’s attempts to dominate the match against Getafe on Sunday were unsuccessful as both teams struggled to create scoring opportunities.
The Spanish giants were unable to take control of the game, and Getafe managed to secure a point against the league leaders. Alejandro Balde had the best chance among Xavi’s men, but he hit the post when he had an open goal.
Xavi Hernandez expressed his dissatisfaction with the playing surface at Coliseum Alfonso Perez after the goalless draw against Getafe on Sunday. He believed that the poor condition of the pitch prevented his team from playing their usual style of football.
“The state of the pitch hurt us. Yesterday, we trained with the dry field. It was very difficult to play on that, and it’s bad for the show.” Xavi said.
The ball gets stuck, it’s bad even for Getafe. It is essential that it is in good condition. It’s no excuse and we now have to recover.”
Xavi confirmed that midfielder Sergi Roberto suffered a hamstring injury early on in the match. This raises concerns that his season may be over.
“Sergi has noticed something in the hamstring. Let’s see tomorrow. Hopefully it is only a short layoff, whether or not there is an injury.”
Xavi’s side needs to quickly recover from their recent stagnation as they have a crucial match against Atletico Madrid at the Spotify Camp Nou next week.
