The Chelsea co-owner is possibly looking to add yet another sports team to his collection, as Boehly shows interest in buying Strasbourg
On Friday, it was confirmed by the Strasbourg board that Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly had a meeting with them. Strasbourg has played down the talk of a takeover, but Boehly’s interest seems to be genuine.
Boehly to own yet another sports team?
Strasbourg president confirms that they have had talks with Boehly in a “friendly meal” but the takeover talks are off the table for now.
Strasbourg is said to be “financially stable” and Boehly presumably wants to loan players from Chelsea to the Ligue 1 side to raise the profile of the club.
He already owns the LA Dodgers and LA Sparks, as well as being the co-owner of Chelsea since last year. The American businessman may want to expand his operations in Europe by obtaining yet another club.
There are no signs of a financial crisis at Strasbourg which leaves club president Marc Keller free to do what he wants and negotiate as high as he can if he wants to sell the club.
Keller called the meeting between him and the Chelsea co-owneras a “non-event” and a “friendly meal”.
