1998 France World Cup winner Christophe Dugarry believes Neymar’s absence will actually improve PSG’s game
Neymar was injured during PSG’s dramatic class with Lille on February 19. Yesterday it was reported that the Brazilian will have to undergo surgery on his ankle and will miss up to four months, effectively ruling him out for the remainder of the season.
However, former France international Christophe Dugarry doesn’t believe that it is such a bad thing since it can actually make PSG more balanced.
Dugarry believes that Neymar should’ve been dropped before his injury
Speaking to RMC Sport, 1998 World Cup winner Dugarry said: “It’s an incredible chance for Christophe Galtier because in any case he should have had the courage, at one time or another, to release Neymar. It was the only solution. I think this team is much more balanced with five behind and two upfront. It’s lucky for Christophe Galtier that Neymar is injured.”
With Neymar’s season now over, Paris Saint-Germain will look into putting him on their transfer list. He joined PSG back in 2017 for a fee of €222 million which makes him the most expensive player in history.
Even though the 31-year-old Brazilian winger has won many trophies at PSG, he has failed to win a Champion League title.
He has been linked with a move away to the Premier League but sources claim that he is happy at Paris.
