Lyon willing to sell out-of-favor talent Rayan Cherki with PSG monitoring the situation

France U-21 international Rayan Cherki is reportedly available for transfer as Lyon has set a price tag of €20 million for the playmaker.

Despite interest from Chelsea and PSG a year ago, Lyon is now open to selling their young prodigy Rayan Cherki this winter, with hopes of securing a higher fee for the talented young player.

Despite being considered a future star just six months ago and attracting interest from clubs like Chelsea, PSG, and West Ham, Rayan Cherki has struggled to live up to his potential this year. With just one assist for Lyon, who are facing the possibility of relegation from Ligue 1, Cherki has not fulfilled the expectations placed on him.

The former Lyon manager was critical of Cherki last month, seeming to rubbish the playmaker’s potential in a press conference: “Is he a special player? He’s a player; he’s not a special player. He’s a player like any other, albeit with some additional qualities. But it’s not just technical qualities that matter; there are mental and athletic qualities as well. He possesses enormous technical abilities, but he needs to work on the others.”

As Lyon faces Toulouse, the 20-year-old Rayan Cherki will be hoping to be part of the action. However, his future at the club beyond the next two months is uncertain, and PSG and Chelsea are expected to compete for his signature if Lyon decides to let him go.
