PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte is confident that his choice to join the French champions over Chelsea was “100 percent” correct.
Manuel Ugarte expressed his satisfaction with being at PSG, the current leaders in Ligue 1, and firmly believes that moving to Paris instead of London was the right decision.
The 22-year-old found himself in the midst of a transfer battle between PSG and Chelsea, with the French giants ultimately securing his services for €60 million (£52 million/$65 million).
Speaking to Canal Supporters, Ugarte said: “I am 100% convinced that coming here was the best choice. PSG, for me, is something incredible. Sometimes I find it hard to believe that I am here because before coming I did not imagine the scale of this club, its worldwide fame, its supporters… I am enjoying this incredible experience enormously, while focusing on achieving of our objectives.”
Ugarte might be contemplating “what could have been” if he had joined Chelsea in the summer. Given Chelsea’s ongoing struggles this season, currently positioned in 10th place in the Premier League, Ugarte may feel relieved about not choosing to move to west London.
The Uruguayan midfielder has started in all five of PSG’s Champions League fixtures and has established himself as a consistent presence in the club’s midfield during the current season.
Manuel Ugarte’s PSG currently lead Ligue 1 by four points ahead of their upcoming home fixture against Nantes. Following this, PSG will travel to Dortmund on Wednesday, understanding that they need to match or surpass Newcastle’s result against AC Milan to secure qualification for the Champions League knockout rounds.
