Thierry Henry has recommended that Messi should depart Paris Saint-Germain and return to Barcelona in the upcoming summer transfer window
There has been much discussion about Messi’s future, as it is unclear whether he will remain with Paris Saint-Germain or move on to another club this summer.
PSG has expressed their intention to keep him and extend his contract for another year, although there have been reports that Barcelona is in talks with the Argentine star.
Messi should go back to Barca ‘for the love of football’!
The speculations about Messi’s potential departure from PSG have caused dissatisfaction among the club’s fans.
During the announcement of the team ahead of their recent Ligue 1 game against Lyon, some supporters booed. They whistled when Messi’s name was mentioned.
During his role as a pundit for the Lyon game, Henry gave his opinion on the situation. And he stated that Messi is being unfairly singled out by the frustrated PSG fans.
“It’s embarrassing to hear whistles from the Parc. You can’t whistle one of the best players on the team, who has 13 goals and 13 assists this season,” as per reports from Amazon Prime.
“Personally, I would like to see him finish his career at Barcelona, in Europe.
“After that, I don’t know what he will do. Because the way he left Barcelona after everything he did… I didn’t really like it.
“For the love of football, he should go back to Barcelona.”
Messi has not yet made a decision on his future and will wait until the end of the season to do so. PSG are currently on track to win the Ligue 1 title, but have faced disappointment in the Champions League once again.
