Reports suggest that Paris Saint-Germain will let go of Lionel Messi in the summer if he does not agree to a substantial reduction in his salary.
L’Equipe reports that Messi’s contract with PSG is due to end on June 30, and the Argentine forward has not yet come to terms with the club regarding an extension.
Although the 35-year-old initially showed a preference for staying longer at Parc des Princes after the World Cup, recent developments have altered his stance.
Rumors indicates that Barcelona wants Messi back at Camp Nou
At present, Messi is on the verge of departing from PSG, who will retain him only if he agrees to a notable reduction in his current wage.
According to L’Equipe, Messi is demanding assurances regarding PSG’s project before he will consider signing a new deal. Currently, the two sides are far from reaching an agreement in negotiations.
Messi has several options as Barcelona has expressed interest in bringing him back to Camp Nou, and MLS team Inter Miami and Saudi Pro League team Al-Hilal are also reportedly competing for his services.
The Argentine must decide about his future in the summer, but currently, he will concentrate on PSG’s next game against Nice in Ligue 1 on Saturday.
