INEOS director of sports addresses Mbappe to Man United rumors

INEOS director of sport, Sir Dave Brailsford, has responded with laughter to a request from a Manchester United fan regarding the possibility of bringing Kylian Mbappe to Old Trafford.

News surfaced on Thursday that Mbappe had officially informed Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi of his intention to depart the club when his contract expires this summer, sparking interest from top clubs across Europe for what could potentially be the most significant free transfer in history.

During a chance encounter captured on video, a young fan approached Brailsford, who will wield considerable influence in INEOS’ management of United once Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition is completed, and inquired about the likelihood of United pursuing Mbappe.

“He’s got his heart set on going to Real Madrid, hasn’t he?” Brailsford laughed (via the Daily Mail).

INEOS’ Brailsford finds Mbappe transfer unlikely

Speculative links have emerged between Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool and a potential move for Mbappe this summer, but it’s Real Madrid who are strongly favored to secure his signature.

With Mbappe entering the final six months of his contract at PSG, he has been free to engage in discussions with Madrid since January 1st, and he is aware of the terms proposed by the Spanish club.

Reports suggest that Madrid’s offer falls short of what PSG had tabled to retain Mbappe, with the bid reportedly resembling the terms offered during Mbappe’s previous contract negotiations in the summer of 2022.

Despite no agreement being reached between Mbappe and Madrid thus far – a fact confirmed by the player during his meeting with Al-Khelaifi – the Spanish outfit remains the frontrunner to secure the deal.

Meanwhile, Manchester United is anticipated to pursue a new forward during the summer transfer window. Club officials are seeking an experienced goal-scorer to support the development of young talent Rasmus Hojlund, who has been adjusting to life in England after a slow start.
