Luis Enrique claims he saw no change in Mbappe’s demeanor after exit confession

PSG manager Luis Enrique stated that he has observed no significant change in Kylian Mbappe or his teammates since the announcement of his impending departure this summer.

The French captain has informed the club’s management that he will not remain at Parc des Princes beyond the current season and has reached an agreement on a five-year deal with Real Madrid.

Mbappe was a substitute for PSG’s recent match – a 2-0 victory over Nantes in which he scored a penalty as a substitute. Enrique avoided addressing questions about the 25-year-old when asked if the shocking news has affected him or the rest of the squad.

“I didn’t see any difference in any of my players this week,” Enrique quipped ahead of Sunday’s clash with Rennes.

“What is getting closer, and what awaits us shortly, is this crucial match for us tomorrow. It is essential because we want to continue to prove that we are competitive against any opponent and in any competition.

“We play at home in front of our supporters because we are a club that must fight for all the titles and because being a PSG player does not allow you to relax. It would only be one match. This is my goal as a coach.”

Enrique doesn’t seem to have any ill feelings toward Mbappe

Sunday will mark PSG’s first home game since the public announcement of Mbappe’s departure. Though fans have been encouraged not to express disapproval or jeer at the former Monaco star until an official announcement is made regarding his future.

According to L’Equipe, Mbappe maintains close ties with Collective Ultras Paris, a PSG supporters’ group, and has leveraged these strong connections to discourage any negative reactions such as whistling or booing.

The unfolding of Mbappe’s reception upon his return will become more apparent on Sunday, as Enrique’s team aims to further extend their lead at the summit of the Ligue 1 table.
