Luis Enrique sends cryptic message to Mbappe after benching him in Reims draw

PSG boss Luis Enrique appeared to acknowledge Kylian Mbappe’s impending departure from the club as he extended his well wishes to the Frenchman.

During their lackluster 2-2 draw at home to Reims, the former Spain national team coach omitted Mbappe from the starting lineup. Although the World Cup winner was introduced in the 73rd minute, he struggled to influence the game.

Talking to Amazon Prime Video after the game, Luis Enrique said: “I wish all the best to Kylian Mbappé for his future. He’s a fantastic player and even more as a person. I really wish him all the best.”

Luis Enrique’s remarks have all but confirmed the 25-year-old’s forthcoming departure from the French capital, a situation that has been evident for several weeks now.

The PSG manager has consistently either benched or substituted Mbappe as he readies the team for a future without the former Monaco forward, who is poised to leave the club when his contract expires in June.

Real Madrid, the 14-time Champions League winners, have emerged as the most probable destination for Mbappe.

The French forward has been linked with a move to the Spanish capital since his breakthrough with Monaco in 2017, and it seems that the transfer will finally materialize this summer.
